Swimming supports whole-child development—physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Early swimmers often show better balance, coordination, confidence, and even problem-solving skills.
Swimming is a life-saving skill and an amazing way to build confidence. At Neptune Swim Academy, we believe swimming teaches children not just water safety, but also perseverance, resilience, and the joy of discovering what they can achieve in and out of the water
This is common, especially at the beginning. Our teachers are trained to gently encourage swimmers through this stage. Usually, the phase passes quickly once the child builds trust and confidence.
At least once per week. Twice or thrice a week accelerates progress and builds confidence faster.
We do our best to keep teacher consistency. However, in case of absence, another STA-trained teacher will step in, fully briefed to ensure continuity.
No. We believe in teaching real swimming skills, not relying on floatation aids. This helps children build mobility, buoyancy, and confidence independently. We do however use training floatation equipment such as noodles, swim belts, kickboards and pull buoys depending on the level and ability.
Yes. For children under 12, a parent or caregiver must remain at the pool for the entire lesson. For Starfish and some Stanley swimmers, parents may also join in the pool if needed.
Please keep your child at home if they are unwell (fever, flu, diarrhea, skin infection, etc.) and let us know. This ensures the health and safety of other swimmers. We’ll help you reschedule if possible.
All children who are not fully potty-trained must wear double swim diapers (a disposable + a snug reusable). This is required for Starfish and some Stanley swimmers.
Yes. We require at least two weeks’ notice before the new term starts if you’d like to withdraw. Mid-term cancellations are handled on a case-by-case basis.
Children are placed based on age and ability. During their first lesson, our coaches will assess and confirm the best class level to ensure safety and proper progression.
Lessons are typically 30-45 minutes for Stanley, Starfish and Grade Series depending on the level. Advanced squads 60-75 minutes and adult training 60 minutes.
We offer a trial lesson for KES 1,500 (redeemable towards your first term’s tuition when you sign up). Please note: trial lessons are not available for Starfish classes. From the trial lesson, our trained coaches carefully evaluate skills during each lesson to ensure your child is in the right level. If your child already has swimming experience, it’s not unusual for them to move up quickly.
Every swimmer progresses at their own pace, depending on confidence, consistency, and experience. Attending lessons regularly is the key to faster progress. At Neptune, we don’t wait for a new term to promote swimmers—once your child has mastered the key skills at their level, they can move up right away.
Please plan to arrive a few minutes early so your swimmer has time to settle in before class begins. Bring all required swim gear: swimwear, towel, swim cap, and goggles (if needed). For younger children, parents should ensure they’ve had a bathroom break before lessons begin. If your child isn’t fully potty trained, they must wear a reusable swim diaper under their swimwear. Most importantly, come ready with a smile and a positive attitude — swimming is about learning, confidence, and fun!
We recommend one to two lessons per week for consistent progress. Our structured curriculum is designed to help swimmers advance steadily while keeping lessons fun and engaging.
Yes. We understand life happens! Please notify us in advance if your child cannot attend. We offer 2 make-up lessons for once a week; 4 make up lessons for twice a week and 6 make up lessons for depending on availability.
If you arrive late, we’ll do our best to include your swimmer without disrupting the class. For consistency and safety, we encourage arriving at least 10 minutes early so children are ready and relaxed before entering the pool.

The ratios for each of our classes is based around safely delivering our lesson content. As a general rule you can expect the following ratio per instructor: please note this may vary dependent on the size of the pool (but will never exceed these numbers): Baby classes(Starfish): 1 coach to 6 pairs of child and one parent Non-swimmers: Taught at a 1:1 ratio to ensure safety and confidence. Beginners: Learn with a 1:2 ratio, allowing close guidance as they master basic swimming foundations. Improver swimmers: Benefit from a 1:3 ratio, encouraging skill progression while maintaining personal attention. Advanced classes use a flexible ratio of 1:4 to 1:6, depending on the pool size and level of swimmers, to ensure both safety and optimal performance. Private lessons: 1 swimmer School groups: up to 10 swimmers (depending on programme school books) Please note this may vary dependent on the size of the pool (but will never exceed these numbers):
